Medical Specialist I (Obstetrician Gynaecologist) at Mombasa County Public Service Board
Job Description
- Undertaking general and specialized diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients in obstetrics and gynaecology;
- Providing comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, including management of high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies;
- Diagnosing and managing gynaecological conditions, including performing specialized gynaecological and obstetric surgical procedures;
- Providing psycho-social support and counselling to patients and their families on reproductive and maternal health issues;
- Providing clinical services to patients in maternity, gynaecology wards and theatres;
- Training, consulting and performing surgeries in various health facilities, including carrying out forensic and medico-legal services related to obstetric and gynaecological practice;
- Coordinating disease surveillance, prevention and control related to maternal and reproductive health;
- Coordinating health education and promotion activities on meternal, newborn and reproductive health;
- Implementing maternal, newborn and reproductive health projects and programmes;
- Maintaining up-to-date maternal and reproductive health information systems;
- Monitoring the provision of obstetric and gynaecological treatment and care services;
- Undertaking clinical audits, maternal death reviews and health research;
- Analysing medical reports and maternal health data.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Possesses a minimum of three (3) year’s experience serving in a comparable position within the public or private sector.
- Master’s degree in obstetrics and gynaecology or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the medical practitioners and dentists board;
- Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery (mbchb) degree from an institution recognized by the medical practitioners and dentists board (mpdb);
- Certificate of registration by the medical practitioners and dentists board;
- Valid practicing licence from the medical practitioners and dentists board;
- Certificate in strategic leadership development programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
- Demonstrated professional competence and professional capability as reflected in work performance and results.
