Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind

Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind (MTIB) is a public technical and vocational training institution located in Machakos County, Kenya. Established in 1958, the institute was created to provide rehabilitation, technical training and vocational skills to people with visual impairment. Today, MTIB also welcomes sighted learners and offers training in areas such as ICT, business, automotive, electrical and electronics, building and civil engineering, fashion design, beauty therapy, and leather technology.

The institution operates under Kenya’s Ministry of Education and is registered and licensed by TVETA. Its mission focuses on rehabilitation, skills development, self-reliance and social integration.
