Wildlife Research and Training Institute

The Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI) is a Kenyan State Corporation established under the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, 2013. Headquartered in Naivasha, the Institute is mandated to undertake and coordinate wildlife research and training in Kenya. WRTI conducts research, collects and analyses wildlife data, supports wildlife disease surveillance, and provides training and capacity development in conservation and management. It also facilitates wildlife research permits and contributes scientific information to support policy and sustainable wildlife management. Through its research centres across different ecosystems, WRTI works to address emerging conservation challenges and promote innovative solutions for protecting Kenya’s wildlife and natural resources.
