Company Description

Competition Authority of Kenya

The Authority’s mandate is to enforce the Competition Act, CAP 504 (the Act), to enhance the welfare of the people of Kenya by promoting and protecting effective competition in markets and preventing misleading market conduct throughout Kenya.

The Authority exercises this mandate by controlling mergers and acquisitions, deterring anti-competitive conduct such as abuse of dominance and price fixing. The Authority also enforces consumers’ rights while sanctioning abuse of buyer power where powerful businesses disenfranchise their weaker suppliers.

The Authority aligns its interventions with the Government’s priorities, while prioritizing our interventions in key sectors such as manufacturing, SMEs, and agriculture, which have the potential to unlock significant economic growth and positively impact a large number of Kenyans.
