The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) is a state corporation that owns and manages nine civilian airports and airstrips across Kenya. Established in 1991 under the KAA Act (Chapter 395), the Authority’s primary mandate includes constructing, maintaining, and operating aerodromes; providing rescue and firefighting services; and facilitating infrastructure for passenger and cargo aviation (kaa.go.ke). The organization is ISO 9001:2015–certified, and many of its key airports—including JKIA, Moi, Eldoret, Kisumu, and Wilson—are undergoing modernization .
