Kenya Fisheries Service

The Kenya Fisheries Service (KeFS) is a state corporation established under the Fisheries Management and Development Act, 2016. Its main mandate is to conserve, manage, and develop Kenya’s fisheries and aquatic resources for sustainable use. KeFS promotes responsible fishing practices, regulates fishing activities, and supports aquaculture development to enhance food security and livelihoods. The agency also conducts research, issues fishing licenses, and enforces fisheries laws to protect marine and freshwater ecosystems. Through its efforts, the Kenya Fisheries plays a key role in boosting the blue economy and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the country’s aquatic resources.
