Job Description

Assistant Director, Technical Services, KICD Grade (1 POST)

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –

  1. Coordinating the preparation of cost estimates for proposed electronic/electrical programs in the Institute;
  2. Ensuring that documents are prepared in accordance with proposed specifications/requirements;
  • Undertaking preventive and corrective measures in the maintenance of the
  1. Institute’s technical equipment and systems;
  2. Making recommendations on the purchase and installation of technical
  3. equipment and systems;
  • Carrying out technical evaluation of proposed technical projects and
  • equipment;
  1. Ensuring proper storage of technical hardware and related software; and
  2. Supervising the implementation of technical projects, commissioning and
  3. final acceptance of completed

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  2. Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • At least 10 years’ relevant experience and 4 years in a management role;
  1. Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  2. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  3. Registered by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya or relevant professional body;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Demonstrated managerial, administrative, and professional competence in work performance and results; and
  1. Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of
