Role Overview
The ePaper Content Editor role oversees content planning, story commissioning, editing, approval, and publication to ensure timely, accurate, engaging, and high-impact journalism. He/she drives audience growth by identifying trending and viral opportunities, maintaining strong editorial standards, and ensuring consistent coverage of major Kenyan and global political developments. The role operates in a fast-paced, deadline-driven digital newsroom and is accountable for content quality, publishing efficiency, audience engagement, and editorial performance.Â
Their key responsibilities include:
- Plan and coordinate daily editorial content in line with audience trends and strategic priorities.
- Assign stories to writers and manage the editorial workflow efficiently.
- Edit, proofread, and fact-check submitted articles to ensure clarity, accuracy, and quality.
- Approve and prepare content for publication.
- Publish the ePaper using relevant digital publishing tools and CMS platforms.
- Identify trending and viral content opportunities, particularly from social media.
- Ensure timely coverage of analytical political developments (Kenyan and global).
- Optimize headlines and content for engagement and traffic growth.
- Lead and mentor writers to maintain high editorial standards and productivity.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in digital media or online publishing.
- Strong understanding of digital audiences and content performance metrics.
- Deep knowledge of social media platforms and viral content dynamics.
- Solid grasp of Kenyan and global political landscapes.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong leadership, discipline, and decision-making ability.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field from a recognized institution.
