Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and maintain geospatial databases and data infrastructure.

Oversee data acquisition, validation, and integration from various sources (eg, satellite imagery. GPS, surveys)

Ensure date quality, security, and compliance with standards

Conduct advanced spatial analysis and modelling to support urban planning and land valuation

Develop geospatial models for land use, transport networks, environmental impact, and risk assessment

Produce high-quality maps, dashboards, and spatial visualizations for internal and external stakeholders

Customize GIS tools and applications for specific urban planning needs

Lead geospatial components of urban development projects

Collaborate with planners, surveyors, valuers, and IT teams to integrate GIS into workflows

Train and mentor junior GIS staff and other departments on geospatial tools and data usage

Provide technical support and guidance on GIS-related issues,

Contribute to the development of geospatial data policies, standards, and strategies

Advise on the use of geospatial technologies in urban governance and planning

Liaise with government agencies, private sector, and community stakeholders on geospatial initiatives

Represent the organization in technical forums and working groups.

Performing any other duty as may be delegate from time to time.

Requirements for Appointment

Be a Kenyan Citizen

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in GIS, preferably in an urban development context

Bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Information Systems, Geography, Urban Planning, Surveying, or related field

Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), remote sensing tools, and spatial databases

Experience with programming/scripting (e.g.. Python, SQL) and web GIS platforms

Fulfils the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
