Internal Training Opportunity

(LCDoctoral School At EPFL in Switzerland)

Background
Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3) Technical Resource Centre for Africa (LC3-TRC Africa) is a project domiciled at the Institute of Cement & Concrete (ICC) at Meru University of Science & Technology, Kenya. The project aims to support the cement and concrete industry as well as the general construction industry in Sub-Saharan Africa in the uptake of LC3 technology.

LC3-TRC Africa is participating in the LC3 Doctoral School training at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland from February 2026. The project seeks applications from highly motivated postgraduate students and/or staff to participate in the LC3 Doctoral School program. The project seeks to support qualified and motivated individuals to attend this training at EPFL, Switzerland. This opportunity is open to candidates who meet and/or shall meet the following requirements:

Pre-training requirements
a) Must have a valid Kenyan Passport.
b) Successful candidates will sit for a qualifying exam.
c) Show evidence of participation in research, training and outreach activities at the Institute of Cement and Concrete.
d) Evidence of an approved MSc/PhD proposal in the field of cement and concrete at MUST.

Post-training requirements
a) Participate in intensive training sessions at EFPL in Switzerland
b) Develop and implement a dissemination plan for the lessons learned at EPFL
c) Develop a database for key cement industry, construction industry, government, and non-governmental organizations with the potential to collaborate with LC3
TRC Africa
d) Submit a back-to-office office report upon return from Switzerland
e) Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives at the Institute of Cement and Concrete.
