Job Description

Mortician (Farewell Home Attendant)

Requirements for appointment

  •  Be a Kenyan citizen;
  •  KCSE Certificate;
  •  Certificate in Mortuary Attendance, embalming and grief counselling or any mortuary related field from a recognized institution in Kenya;
  •  At least two (2) years relevant work experience in a busy mortuary or a reputable Funeral Home;
  •  Good interpersonal and communication skills; and
  •  Strong English and Swahili language skills

Duties and responsibilities
The Mortician shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following;

  •  Collecting and receiving bodies within the hospital and outside through the prescribed
  •  Recording bodies
  •  Washing the bodies, embalming and refrigeration
  •  Scrubbing and assisting in post mortems
  •  Counselling the relatives
  •  Releasing the bodies to the relatives as per the laid procedures
  •  Performing any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor
