Job Description

Description
1 Provide technical input in development, implementation and review of communications, customer and branding strategies, policies , guidelines and procedures;
2 Supervise execution of risk management policy and strategies that ensure the division has a robust system and processes of accountability, risk management, internal controls, business continuity and succession management
3 Contribute to a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good citizenship within the Section;
4 Supervise implementation of a robust performance management system within the Division through monitoring on the delivery of the annual performance contract and the strategic plan;
5 Oversee implementation of principles of Corporate Governance, relevant national policies, guidelines, and directives within the Division
6 Conduct supervision, coaching, mentoring, training and development of the Section staff to ensure an effective and motivated team; and
7 Undertake performance appraisal and development of staff in the Division
8 Supervising development and review of content for media publicity, speeches, publications, and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials;
9 Oversee internal and external media communication functions;
10 Manage implementation of the Institute Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and review reports;
11 Monitor and measure public relations and communications effectiveness;
12 Manage incoming media requests and building relationships with industry journalists; creating, executing and measuring media campaigns;
13 Provide input in formulation, implementation and review of departmental annual work plans, budgets and procurement and asset disposal plans in line with the Corporation’s performance targets and strategic plan;
14 Provide input in the development, implementation and review of corruption prevention and mitigation strategies in the division;
15 Provide technical input to ensure continuous improvement of business processes and controls in the division and develop mechanisms for corporate consultations;

Qualifications / Work Experience

1 Professional Cumulative service period of nine (9) years’ relevant work experience, three (3) years of which should have been in the grade of Senior Corporate Communication Officer or in a comparable position Mandatory
2 Professional Membership to the Public Relation Society of Kenya (PRSK) or Media Council of Kenya (MCK) or any other relevant professional body and in good standing Mandatory
3 Professional Professional Certificate (or higher) Mandatory
4 Academic Academic Degree (or higher) Mandatory
5 Academic Academic Masters (or higher) Mandatory
