Job Description
Senior Networks and Security Officer
Job purpose:
Reporting to the Information and Communication Technology Manager. The Senior Networks and
Security officer is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization and maintenance of the
Sacco network and telecommunications components, server infrastructure, endpoint devices and
related hardware in line with business requirements and strategic priorities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Spearhead the IT security function, drive the IT security operations, strategy, and
implementation to protect the business from security threats and cyber-hacking.
• Work closely with the ICT Manager to devise and implement security policies and procedures
to comply with industry standards and regulations.
• Perform IT security risk assessments and report on ways to minimize threats while ensuring
updated ICT risk register is always in place.
• Ensure establishment, maintenance and regular monitoring of a robust disaster recovery and
business continuity plans and ensure regular testing and reporting.
• Work closely with the organization’s ICT security service providers in ensuring that the
recommendations are reported, documented, and implemented in good time.
• Oversee and implement Sacco’s cyber security program and enforce the cyber security
policy/framework.
• Establish mechanisms for monitoring, diagnosing, testing, and troubleshooting computer
and telecommunications networks with a view to continuously enhancing availability.
• Ensure the availability of detailed documentation relating to network and
telecommunications infrastructure.
• Assist the ICT Manager in the development and implementation of policies, procedures,
standards, and baselines to guide the deployment, use and disposal of IT infrastructure and
network assets.
• Ensure continuous patching and upgrade of critical IT systems and network equipment to
ensure compliance and protection from cyber threats and other vulnerabilities.
• Oversee the administration of user accounts, permissions, and access rights in Active
Directory in line with information security policy.
• Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols,
and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
• Perform any other responsibility as allocated from time to time
Knowledge: Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in IT/Computer Science /Computer engineering or any other related
course is a requirement
• Minimum of 5 years relevant and progressive work experience with proven IT security
experience, preferably in a financial institution.
• Certification in network security.
• Certified Information Security Professional
• Cisco/Checkpoint Certified Security Administrator
• Project management qualification is desirable.
• Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office including MS Visio and MS Project.
