Job Description
- POSITION: TECHNICAL MANAGER (1 POST)-Scale 8
Terms of Service:Â Three (3) years contract renewable for a further one (1) term subject to satisfactory performance.
Job Purpose:Â The Technical Manager is responsible for Managing the day-to-day operations of water treatment plants, pump stations, and the distribution network to ensure a safe, reliable, and continuous water supply of the company. Develop and implement effective maintenance programs for all technical assets He is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of the department in consultation with the Managing Director. He oversees the water quality testing and analysis processes, ensuring that the water delivered to customers is safe and meets all health and environmental standards.

Reporting:Â The job holder reports to the Managing Director,
Duties and responsibilities: Technical Manager
- Provide strategic and technical leadership in the technical division to ensure provision of high-quality services to customers,
- Steer the development of departmental policies, procedures and actions plans in line with company mission and objectives,
- Ensure that technical audits of the network are carried out on time and remedial action taken,
- Formulate and oversee effective plan to reduce NRW in the company.
- Oversee preparation of comprehensive departmental reports and budgets, to Managing Director to facilitate decision-making,
- Ensure development of departmental staff through training and motivation
- Ensuring that all water and sewerage services infrastructure is operated and maintained to the required standards,
- Advise the Company on the acquisition of capital assets and on all technical matters,
- Provide technical expertise and advise in the acquisition of contractors and consultants for major works,
- Provide overall supervision of major works,
- Participate in setting performance targets for technical staff in the Company,
- Oversee the planning and co-ordination of quality, maintenance and engineering (capacity works) related issues,
- Ensure good quality of water to customers,
- Monitor, evaluate and report on water projects status monthly, quarterly and annually,
- Coordinate water development partners in consultation with Managing Director,
- original project proposals to expand infrastructure and improve on sustainability of services in the company.
Minimum Qualifications for the post
- Degree holder in Civil or Water Engineering in Water from recognized University,
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in water utility operations supported by at least five (5) years’ hands on experience in water sector or equivalent with related field with at least three (3) years at senior management level.
- Must be registered by Engineer’s Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
