Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya‑AIST) is Kenya’s first specialized postgraduate-only university, established in 2022 at Konza Technopolis under Legal Notice No. 130 . Modeled after South Korea’s KAIST, it aims to address the regional shortage of highly skilled engineers and scientists (kenya-aist.ac.ke). Funded jointly by the Kenyan government and a ₭10 bn loan from the Korea Eximbank, its initial intake includes Master’s and PhD programs in Mechanical, Electrical & ICT Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and Agricultural Biotechnology . Positioned as a key innovation hub in Konza, Kenya‑AIST is expected to catalyze research, drive industrialization, and strengthen academia‑industry linkages in the region.
