The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization dedicated to fighting hunger and improving food security. As part of the United Nations system, WFP provides life-saving food and cash assistance to people affected by conflict, disasters, climate shocks and other emergencies. The organization also supports long-term solutions through school feeding programmes, nutrition initiatives, climate resilience projects and assistance to smallholder farmers. WFP operates in more than 120 countries and territories, working closely with governments, communities and humanitarian partners. In 2020, WFP was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts to combat hunger and promote peace through food assistance.
