The National Gender and Equality Commission

The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) is an independent constitutional body established to promote gender equality and freedom from discrimination in Kenya. It derives its mandate from Article 59 of the Constitution and works to ensure inclusion of marginalized groups, including women, youth, persons with disabilities, minorities, and the elderly. NGEC monitors, audits, and advises government institutions on policies and practices related to equality and social justice. The commission also conducts research, public education, and advocacy to advance human rights. Its work supports fair access to opportunities and services for all citizens across the country.
